So many people believe hunger is a result of lack of food supply. In truth, food production isn’t the problem [0]. Access is.
Numbers and statistics are one thing. Grasping the despair of starvation and limited access is another.
Oxfam [1] is trying to bring hunger home through its hunger banquets [2]. A demonstration of food situations worldwide, some attendees are given heaping amounts of food while others are given handfuls. It's more complex than that, but Oxfam has such a great site about hunger banquets [3], I don't want to steal their thunder.
What a great idea! Such great lessons to be learned and such great truths to be taught — genius!
Is anyone else as fascinated by these banquets as I am? Have you been to one? Thinking about planning one?
What are your thoughts?
