Grupo Fenix is a wonderful group that has connected Nicaraguan engineering students and local folks to develop and apply creative renewable energy solutions. Solar cookers (and looking at how to change the culture and teach people how to use them) are one of their most popular products, but they do more, and recently did some training in Haiti.

They also host delegations for folks from the US to visit Nicaragua, learn about alternative energy and why it can make a huge difference in a poor country. Hands on experience and visits to Nicaraguan villages make for a great learning experience.
