As global population, both rural and urban, continues to grow, water becomes an even more precious resource.
Nearly 450 million people in 29 countries currently face severe water shortages.
20 percent more water than is now available will be needed to feed the additional three billion people who will be alive by 2025.
As much as two-thirds of the world population could be water-stressed by 2025.
Aquifers, which supply one-third of the world's population, are being pumped out faster than nature can replenish them.
Half of the world's rivers and lakes are seriously polluted. Major rivers, such as the Yangtze, Ganges, and Colorado, do not flow to the sea for much of the year because of upstream withdrawals.

Margareta-I think that people must know about the water shortage and to save as much as they can,at home,at the office or everywhere they go;.
Engineers have to make special machines to preserve and to clean the existing water;
The salty water from the seas and oceans must be pueriefied and good to drink;
The waste waters can be treated and reused(my husband is such a specialist with a University Diploma in this field);
There is a great potential in water suplises under the deserts( the artificial satelites can scan and find out);
People can make ships echiped with oceans and seas plants(instalations)to change it into drinking water.
Here are only a few ideas for the humankind world's benefits.

Margareta It is an amazing thing that earth,who is called "the blue planet" because there are oceans and seas almost everywhere,doesn't have water for the people.This is a global serious problem, and the whole engineers have to take real solutions to solve this plague.

Dear Margret,
Your article, 6months ago on the hungermovement is excellent.It reminds us of the ongoing challenges we face in Zambia helping communities in the rual areas to address the problems of accessing clean and safe drinking water. Thank you for sharing the facts.
